Costumes RSS FeedsRe: going to the spa - customize slippers or thongs with beads, flowers, embroidery, fringe, jewels herbal eye masks purse emergency de-stress kits - mini sachet to whiff, oil, valerian, crystal, book, lip balm ...Feed Source: CraftyVixens.tribe.net Re: going to the spa - dream bags- think sachets but put your own spin on em you can do this or any variation of it and do either a dream tea( this idea might need a little more research) with hand sewn tea bags or use one for aromatherapy. you can work with your friend to develop a signature scent and invite people to bring a little piece of the spa with them into their everyday lives. it could be for car, work, home and could contain a tiny bottle of essential oil with the same herbal infusion ..I think that it would be a nice gift. you might visit spa websites and check out their gift shops . I have gotten several gifts from friends who went to spa weekends, so you could include gifts for the significant others maybe a marry me bathroom kit for newlyweds.. monogrammed towels, and hand towels, washcloths, or one of those soft soap mitts that you put the soap inside of well, my little brainstorm has blown over:) I hope this helps.kim chi... Re: getting blood out of linen? - Martha Stewart's Homekeeping Handbook had some suggestions. This book has lots of good info in it!
For Protein stains (Blood, Egg Yolk, Milk, Vomit) Spray diluted dish washing soap solution on the stain, let it sit, rinse in tepid water. If still visible treat the area with enzyme detergent and launder according to label instructions. Diluted dish washing solution solution made with 1 tablespoon fragrance-and-dye-free liquid soap (containing sodium laurel sulfate, or sodium laureth sulfate) and 10 ounces of water. Pour it into a small spray bottle. Do NOT use enzyme detergent on silk, wool, cashmere or angora.
For old perspiration stains treat with an enzyme paste. Buy digestive enzyme tablets at a natural food store, grind 4 tablets and add equal parts water to make a damp paste. Gently rub onto the stain, let it sit for one hour. Launder as usual. Whites can be soaked overnight in hot water and oxygen bleach then also laundered as usual.... Re: getting blood out of linen? - Lots and lots of great ideas.
So far hydrogen peroxide hasn't taken it all out, nor has soaking over night I think I will try the oxyclean next and then the almond milk if that still hasn't taken care of things.... Re: going to the spa - embroider towels, robes, with a monogram, or the spa's logo, depending on the sophistication of your machine .
tote bags, eye masks, turbans, small afgans... going to the spa - my friend has opened her own spa, and came to me asking i sew things for display. She also wants me to do wedding shows with her. I am excited, and as a stay at home mom i think this is a great opportunity. I was wondering what items could be sewn for selling at a spa. She already has a person making jewlery I was thinking those little masks, powder puffs Please any other ideas? Thank -you... Re: getting blood out of linen? - And, it's in period ;-)... Re: getting blood out of linen? - Almond Milk will get blood out of natural fabrics. It's really ground almonds in water; maybe soy milk would do the same?... Re: Waterproof glue!!! - E-6000 is waterproof.
I tried recently to remove some paint from a mask by soaking it for several hours in water and the straps that were glued down with E-6000 stayed on tight!
Good luck,
Alyssa

I have to buy these online as after much searching, I cannot find them easily enough in my city.... Re: Crafy music video - nice ~ thanx!
love all-ways,

Glad it worked! Rock the dress!... Re: broken invisible zipper - shazam, it worked and took about thirty minutes. What to do if a zipper is separated and the slide won't pull down:
1. make the bottom of the zipper accessible; it may be hidden behind lining, but is not that hard to get out.
2. Cut the little plastic stops off of the top of the zipper, and pull the slide off of the top. Best with tiny scissors so you don't damage more of the zipper than is necessary.
3. Squeeze the sides of the slide slightly to make it work better next time--use pliers, of course.
4. Cut off the bottom of the zipper--for hidden zippers with plastic coil, this is easier and quicker than removing the bottom tab. Make sure it's even, though.
5. Thread the two cut haves of the zipper through the slide--this takes some fiddling, and I had to recut the bottom because of frayed ends. It also takes some thinking to get the orientation right because everything is sorta upside-down at this point. I used pliers to pull the slide up through the lining to the out... Crafy music video - Neat! I don't embroider, but this makes me want to! I wonder how long this took

Re: broken invisible zipper - I'm thinking, actually, that I'll damage the top of the zipper so I can get the slider off of the top (it'll go up but not down), then take the tab off the bottom, reinstall slider (with a little modification so the teeth will close tighter, and refasten the bottom.... Re: broken invisible zipper - Could you return it?... Re: getting blood out of linen? - Simple green did not work quite as well on older stains. On top of that, a red shirt that I've had for years bled in the wash, despite it being cold water. I'm going to get some oxy clean, thanks for the reccommendations.... Re: broken invisible zipper - just a thought can you get the slider off by pulling it down? Then separate the zipper at the bottom, reinstall the slider and then re-fasten the bottom?... Re: broken invisible zipper - spend less than 20 minutes on it ;) ??
I'll check for broken teeth again, but I think it's just a stupid faulty pull. Sewing hook and eye on sounds tedious as all get-out, but that may have to be the answer, since I'm not really in the mood to replace a zipper on beaded fabric.... Re: getting blood out of linen? - I used Oxy Clean to get some disgustingly gnarly pit stains out of a vintage cowboy shirt for my boyfriend, who is completely hinky about wearing a strangers' used clothing he never noticed. But I had to treat and retreat it several times and let it soak in each time.... Re: broken invisible zipper - You can remove the zipper and install another. you can install hook and eye, you can add snaps, you can even sew in Velcro. Tamp in grommets and lace up the opening ..
I guess its just a matter of what you would like to do with it. :D... Re: getting blood out of linen? - i used to work in a kitchen simple green also works for grease stains from food. ;-)
~birdie.... Re: broken invisible zipper - bwah this just happened to me on friday, except it was a wedding dress that i had made, and it was the day before the wedding! we ended up taking the zipper out, and i replaced it with hook and eye clasps.
after examining the zipper it appeared that there was a "tooth" (does that make sense?) that was pushed too far forward, inhibiting the zipper from operating properly. maybe check to see if this is what happened? if so, you could probably push it back into place with the others
good luck!... broken invisible zipper - Damn. I just bought a well-priced dress that makes me look like a cupcake fairy, but the zipper separated. Any ideas on how to fix a separated hidden zipper if the slide won't go down?... Copyright © 2008, Real Estate Investment Tips. All Rights Reserved. |
