best camcorder right know is according to tests for indoor and outdoor quality sony hdr-sr12 .but it records up to 16mbps ..there is new camcorder coming soon canon hg21 which will be probably best performer as it will record at max 24mbps as avchd will allow in specification ..so i do wait .but i was about to buy hdr-sr12 also but is ... Need recommendation for TV tuner card - The Hauppauge PVR 350 is proven to work and work well.
If the HDR 1800 uses the same chipset as the Hauppauge PVR 150 then it is garbage for analog capture. The 150 sucked donkey balls.
I wouldn't get the 1800 if analog capture is important to you.

I don't think that camcorder has a Firewire port. It's a DVDR cam. It encodes to MPeg2 on DVDR.

just got around to check the divx files, and I copied it exactly the same in fourCC changer, to DX50 and Divx 5 (it was DIVX before), and now DVDA accepts the xvid file, including the resolution a ... I created an xml file for vcdimager (which also does svcds) and made a bin/cue image that would burn to a cd. I mounted it in a virtual cd drive using daemon tools and then opened powerdvd . To my great delight, the virtual disc played perfectly in powerdvd, complete with skip functionality that I had programmed in ... Buying a used sony - EDVD Thanks for the reply.
