Raw food ? - what is it about this raw food thing ?? I even hear that some rawfood restaurant opened in NY .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_foodism Raw foodism (or 'rawism') is a lifestyle promoting the consumption of uncooked, unprocessed, and often organic foods as a large percentage of the diet. Depending on the type of lifestyle and results desired, raw food diets may include a select and #305;on of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds (including sprouted whole grains), eggs, fish, meat, and unpasteurized dairy products (such as raw milk, cheese and yogurt). A raw foodist (or 'rawist') is a person who consumes primarily raw food, or all raw food, depending on how strict the diet is. Raw foodists typically believe that the greater the percentage of raw food in the diet, the greater the health benefits. Members of the raw food community believe that raw food encourages weight loss and prevents and/or heals many forms of sickness and many chronic diseases....

You know you are living in 2008 when... - 1. You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave. 2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three. 4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you. 5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses. 6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries. 7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen 8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't even have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it. 10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee. 11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile....

Travel Hangman - Time for a new game on here! I present to you "Travel Hangman". http://www.paul-johnson.co.uk/forum-images/hang.gif It's like normal hangman, except it's travel related. It might be a place, the name of a company, something that you do when you travel anything that's got something to do with travel. OK, first off we need some rules: 1. You are allowed up to 12 wrong guesses a guess could be the suggestion of a letter or the suggestion of the whole thing 2. Nobody is allowed to make a guess until the person that's started the game has responded to any outstanding guesses. For example, if someone guesses 'A', you must first wait for the originator of the game to confirm whether there is or isn't an 'A' in the word. It's also probably helpful if the originator posts a list of wrong guesses to date....

Round the world with a baby?? - Hello fellow travellers. I have a 7 month old baby and my DH and I have decided that the time is right to sell the house, pack in our dead end jobs and see a bit of the world. This was always a dream of mine until little jack arrived, and now im not so sure. My dream started with a notion to save enough money for a round the world air ticket. I had planned to work where I could, beg if I had to and generally do some good wholesome growing up whilst limping my way from place to place. I cant see this being a good idea now I have my gorgeous son to care for. My partner has never really been into the travelling thing but I guess I talk about it so much its just worked its way into his mind. Now he's talking about a 12 stop trip over a year or 18 months....

6-star and 7-star hotels - I would be interested to hear what members' views are on the growing number of hotels that have classifications that exceed 5 stars. As I'm sure many of you are aware, there is no country in the world that has an official classification that exceeds 5 stars, and I think the highest you can get in one or two countries is just 4. Yet we are seeing a number of self-accredited 6-star hotels now, and even one 7-star hotel in Dubai. What do you feel about such self-accreditation? Aaron....

How many countries have you visited? - OK, just for a bit of fun, I thought it would be interesting to see how many countries our members had visited. I think for a country to count you've actually got to set foot on it, so let's not count passing through on overnight trains, etc. Also, I don't think we can count just waiting around at airports for a flight transfer Oh, and don't count where you live! My list is as follows: Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Holland, Italy, Monaco, Morocco, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, USA, Vatican, Wales I make that 21 still a long way to go Paul....
