Reality Shows Fiends - One new television habit that Alissa & I share is our sudden interest in Reality Shows. In the past, I believe we've both avoided them like the plague. I was especially unhappy with network shows like Survivor, Big Brother and Bachelor(ette). Since we both love E!'s "The Soup", we saw our fair share of train-wreck clips from the MTV/VH1 brand of dating shows (Rock of Love, Flavor of Love, A Shot at Love) & faux-reality drivel like "The Hills". I never had a desire to watch 10 minutes (let alone the HOUR that most of these shows get. However, when it comes to skill-based reality show competitions, we're both hooked.Celebracadabra (VH1): Glad that C. Thomas Howell won. This was a terrific show that I eagerly awaited each week. Hal Sparks obviously had a lot of skills coming into the contest, but his attitude really hurt. David Regal (Howell's coach) coverage of this experience in Genii magazine has been awesome. The Next Food Network Sta...

These are a few of my favorite hats... - This morning, Meliora (our pet schnoodle) and I went to Starbucks for coffee. (Chris' favorite custom drink - Caramel Macchiato with a shot of peppermint). I decided to wear my new Orange Fanta baseball cap from Atlanta's World of Coke. Got me thinking of my favorite head adornments:* Atlanta Braves Hat - My prize possession. I've had it since I was a young kid. Can't seem to find a pic of me wearing it since I was about 8.* Sun hat - pictured here while I was in Germany in 1997:: BOUGHT 1987 in Penang, Malaysia ::* Arcadia Cross-Country white baseball hat:: BOUGHT 1998 in Greece, NY ::* The infamous Ghana hat -- ...

Saturday Morning Bravo Time (SMBT) - Watching Kathy Griffin's "Allegedly" and there is an ad for Jeff Lewis' "Flipping Out" where he wants to *clandestinely tape his staff. Doesn't he have an entire CAMERA CREW AT HIS OFFICE ALL DAY? Can he's ask them?! (Kathy is coming to town in October. Oddly, her website has a whole section about Lasik complications.)(I tried to spell 'surreptitiously' for several minutes before I gave up - though I did discover that another synonym for 'secretly' is 'huggermugger'. I encourage each and every one of you to use 'huggermugger' in your daily speech today!)iOffer is an interesting place because you can find some pretty amazing rare DVDs like all of "Pirates of Dark Water", all of the "Muppet Show" and all of "Get Smart". My puppy is sleeping next to me on a giant pillow. Woohoo!Twin Cities Improv Festival started this week. I went to see Larynx, Stevie Ray's and SCRAM on Thursday night. It was some of the best improv I've seen in a long time - ...

Latest Science Research by Chris Harrington - Helsinki, Finland ? Scientists confirmed today that the size of the planet Earth was not as large as initially anticipated. It appears that the cause for this shrinkage was an increase in the mirth, snuffling, aspirations and qualms. Sentient people have contended that fair allotment of resources may have also contributed to the decrease in the globe?s girth. Researchers suggest utilizing a grin in order to communicate camaraderie to all follow humans. While a craggy foothill might separate continents and the deep-sea is expansive, the planet is still not as immense nevertheless. In a related note, at last count, there still is only a single Luna and Sol. Rock....

Lakini's Juice is mostly Juice Concentrate - Meliora graduated from Puppy Class last Sunday. I tried to give her the diploma which she almost ate. We're back from Atlanta. We had a great time:* Visiting Dad's Garage to see "SONG OF THE LIVING DEAD" which was INCREDIBLE* Seeing the Center for Puppetry Arts with an inspiring Jim Henson exhibit which will be worth returning for to see when it's expanded by 2012.* Eating BUFFALO (or is it Bison?) at Ted's Montana Grill - wine + onion rings = good eats!* Seeing Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs & Chinese Food in all wacky splendor* Buying a KILLER RABBIT (MP: TSFTHG) puppet at Oxford Comics and Game* Yumm...

Fortune House - Alissa & I had a nice dinner at Fortune House (Chinese Food) in St. Paul last night. We had just spent the afternoon driving around Wyoming, Lino Lakes and Mahtomedi including a brief excursion into the park with our dog Meliora. Today is the last week of Beginner Puppy classes for schnoodle. Alissa is asleep on the loveseat and Mel is sitting next to me on the couch stretched out. It's a quiet morning for certain! We saw our friends Jason & Krista (who will be married in a few weeks) for an open-house bridal shower (we left before the storms of DOOM came rolling in), visited Alissa's parents (her mom is home from the hospital!) and even drove through Willernie after picking up coffee at the non-nutty Dunn Bros. drivethru. We both actually watched the CBS debut of EliteXC last night before there was nothing good on TV. I don't believe it can be technically called the Network debut of MMA because IFL was on MyNetworkTV drawing microscopic ratings last year. However, it...

A Crystal Skull Hotdog - So, we got a blackberry! Yup - I won an award at work for "knocking down the pins" which meant a crystal bowling trophy (no lie - I have two!) and a gift certificate good for places like Target, Home Depot and WillernietownUSA. We went to Best Buy to investigate whether we could use the money towards a new Verizon phone. It was too early for us to upgrade so we decided to hold off. The very next day, I received an email from Verizon advertising a discounted "early upgrade" if I wanted to buy a Blackberry Curve or Blackberry Pearl. AMAZING! So, we went to the store last night and the best rep ever got us quite a deal (work discount, upgrades and more!). By the time everything was said & done, we had a new Blackberry Curve for $100. Not a bad deal at all!!Adam & I went to Wendys today. I mourn the Big Bacon Classic being replaced with the Baconator, even though it's pretty good too! But boy, did I crash hard around 2 pm today from all those bacon particles z...

Iron Man was GOOD - When I spoke with Jason yesterday, he said Iron Man was good. And he was right. And his Jason continues forever - amen.Speed Racer looks bad. Alissa's dad saw it. He said the most subdued color in the entire thing was "neon yellow". He actually thought it was good for fans who knew the storyline from the original show but otherwise might be confused to newcomers. I feel like that's the real hurdle - we're talking about a show which is being marketed as:a) a throwback to the old cartoon series (30-40 somethings?)b) fast & the furious for the kids whose parents won't let them see iron manc) the hip matrix bros crazy light showThat's some poor targeting. We're making baked potatoes. Thank you wikihow! Tomorrow I head to Boston for a one-day work trip and then will complete in the luge and skelton on the willernie sled. It will rock....

What can't Queen Latifah do? - Jail ward, Jail warden, Taxi Driver, Bank Robber, Marriage Counselor..Today's wacky song: ** Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes **Puppy is crazy and that is a good thing usually. WOO! I think I might be mildly allergic to her scratching though so I always have raised skin whenever she bites or plays and catches my hand/face.I finished a week at Pathways learning about asking forward-focused front-side energy map questions. I performed improv at the dinner in front of lots of bigwigs which was an exciting adventure to try without my team. I will probably be performing tomorrow with Adam in a similar role. Rock!MAGIC WEEK ON LETTERMAN! MAC KING IS TONIGHT. Lance Burton was weird and Lance Burtonesque last night - he did a routine about the MASKED MAGICIAN. What's next? A world record?! - Alissa didn't realize I was serious, but after watching "KING OF KONG" a few weeks ago twice in one day, I determined that my latest S.L.O. (Short Lived Obsession) would be SETTING A WORLD RECORD SPEEDRUN IN MANIAC MANSION FOR NES. I've been practicing for a few weeks and so far, I've been able to whittle away at my time. King of Kong is great. - I just finished, "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters". AWESOME. I've read a number of reviews of it and it definately delivered. I went to the Classic Gaming Expo in Oconomowoc, WI last summer and it was pretty cool. I hope sometime to go to one which has a bigger arcade, but it was pretty groovy.Even more nifty, Alissa & I got a pet Schnoodle this week whom we named Meliora (Mel for short).ROCK. It is warmer in Arizona~! - It's snowing here. This is not "happy making fun rock snow". This is "I can't believe we are getting several inches of snow and it's almost April in Minnesota" snow. GRRR~!So, instead I will post something from Summer of 2006 that makes me laugh. Here goes the Ninja with the Ninja review of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.OK, I don't want to spoil it for anybody who might not have seen it yet so I'll tell you this one little thing, just to give you some context - It's a horrible movie.I went and did the research on like how they came up with this movie and basically, it was inspired by old-school robot pirates. Like, like, I'm talking Chuckie Cheese style, like sub-Chuckie cheese style. That is where they were starting from the movie and then they basically took a step backwards. It?s worse than bad, animatronics pirates. The structure of the movie, the best...

Colin Delaney Tracker - My friend Colin Delaney has signed a multi-year deal to work for WWE. I'm very proud of him. Since I don't live in Rochester anymore, I rarely have the opportunity to see my friends from AWF, but we still talk pretty regularly. It's really so incredible to consider that someone I've known for many years, someone who was at my wedding, someone who attends our private little Christmas party every year, is now an official television superstar.I threw together this webpage so just I could track all his matches while so many people are posting them on Youtube each week. ROCK.http://colin-delaney-tracker.blogspot.com/...

Backstreet Boys? They rock my world! - Great Google SearchesI was surprised to find that the specific phrase, "Backstreet Boys Rock my World" was not going to yield only hits to this blog. When I was in High School, I put up letters around my basement that said that exact phrase in reference to a real conversion Adam Bachman had when we were in Atlanta, GA for the LCMS Youth Gathering. (I should note that Adam was not the one who held this opinion. More, it was whatever weird Florida kid he was talking to.) The best part was that when you entered my basement, because of how I had hung the letters, it simply said, "BOYS ROCK MY WORLD". Which must certainly be true?...

Pie, Humble. - I even watched part of the Super Bowl yesterday. (I always remember that Super Bowl is two words because of the whole, "BOY I LOVE LOSING SUPERBOWLS" BILLS joke from the early 90s.) I was also watching a SWANK Dragons Gate match on youtube during Q4. I resolve to watch at least one pro-wrestling match every day this week. I also played lots of "ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS II" on SNES while laying in bed. It was a great day!Yup - the Giants won. I was happy because I'm all about underdogs. I remember when I got yelled at for attending a Syracuse Orangemen basketball game and cheering their opponents. (I don't remember who, so I'll guess it was XAVIER.) Tonight I'm teaching Improv. Tomorrow I'm attending Republican Caucas. I am going to vote for McCain. I even took the NPR survey and confirmed it yesterda...

Chris is a COGsaurus. - I'm starting to understand the Myspace/Facebook over the LJ. I still VASTLY prefer LJ posting to social networking sites, but I see how as your time available to browse online decreases, the desire to aggregate everything neatly increases. Yeah, there's RSS feeds and whatever that whole mini-SMS lifecasting thing, but I don't do that. I play Maniac Mansion on emulator. I long for more time to play Breakout clones on Atari. I am not ready to deal with an internet stream. This is probably why my podcast has gone down the tubes in the past few months.Work has been increasingly devouring my freetime. Actually, I guess you could say it consumes my worktime. And some of my traveltime. We moved to Minnetonka/Hopkins Minnesota which is nifty in many ways. It also means a longer commute for Mookie so I tend to spend about 45 minutes each way driving in my Aztek. So far, it hasn't driven me batty. It's been really cold here in St. Paul. We finally got rain yesterday and ...

Ahoy! - Alissa & I celebrated our anniversary yesterday with a gathering of friends & family. In the end, numbers weren't quite as high as initially projected so we were able to fit everyone into our living room and entertain them using the Wii! Alissa did a wonderful job cooking pot-stickers and spring rolls, so we'll have plenty of yummy Chinese food treats for the next week. Plus, no less than TWO cakes. It's a sugar-funhouse! And a clean house - the place looks great from top to bottom.Brandon, Keith & I watched the 2008 Royal Rumble last night. Please check the MVN website for my thoughts on that PPV. It was good! This week is rock and work. I went to St. Cloud on Saturday and did an improv gig wearing Hawaiian attire. How was your week?...

Posted, Monday, 21-Feb-2000 01:39:58 - Wacky New Blog related to my new improv team: http://stevieraysteamz.blogspot.com/Fun things:* Reading a few interesting books: - The Glorious Deception: The Double Life of William Robinson, aka Chung Ling Soo, the "Marvelous Chinese Conjurer" by Jim Steinmeyer- Best American Crime Reporting 2007 edited by by Linda Fairstein, Otto Penzler and Thomas H. Cook. (I Have 2006 and 2005, also. Except, it used to be called "Best American Crime Writing". Apparently, there was confusion about whether this made it clear that the stories were published non-fiction. So they changed the name this year. Also, Canadian writers & publications are eligible. Yeah, go figure! I'd love to get 2003 & 2004 editions.)- Two New ...
